IES Technical Luncheon: Reconstructing the Business of Light – A Sweeping Response to LEDs

November 15, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm EST

$25.00 – $75.00

Deborah GottesmanPresented by Deborah Gottesman, Principal, Gottesman & Associates

We have survived the LED storm of the decade, but it’s not over yet.

The lighting industry is under reconstruction, including everything from testing and measurement to fixture construction and procurement. The evolution gives us unprecedented choice, but not without new challenges.

This seminar tells the LED story: past, present, and future. Topics include new methods of assessing colour, taming the technical beast, the power of materials, and sole sourcing.

Case studies will examine how to restructure the approach to design and procurement to suit the new reality, and how much more expansive and complex LED lighting is still becoming.

Learning Points

  • To grasp the challenges of working with progressive LED technology
  • To be inspired to turn the challenges into opportunities to raise the bar of design
  • To appreciate the value and benefits of leveraging available technology
  • To understand the changing paradigm of the lighting business, from manufacturing through design to installation, to improve design and construction processes
  • Through case studies, to see how innovative design can be grounded in reality and meet budget.
