IES Technical Luncheon: The State of the IES Towards 2020/Look What They’ve Done to My Metrics, Ma

May 16, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm EDT

To close out the 2017-2018 luncheon series the Toronto Section has a Double Treat for you this month. We are pleased to bring you two of the thought leaders at the IES. Tim Licitra, Executive Director, and our very own Past President, Tom Butters, currently Director of Education. This will be a sold out event so please register early to reserve your seat.

Double Feature Presentation:
1) The State of the IES Towards 2020
2) Look What They’ve Done to My Metrics, Ma – A Brand New Key to Understanding Light

DESCRIPTION:
Topic 1: by Tim Licitra, Executive Director IES
Executive Director of the IES Tim Licitra will present an update on the behind the scenes activities that are geared to deliver the best value for membership in the IES.

Topic 2: by Tom Butters, LC Director of Education
With the latest in technological advancements and physiological research in the lighting field, the way old comfortable metrics are used has changed. What was once so solid now is questioned. With LED technologies and the questions of life, lumen depreciation, colour and even the effects on health, there has never been a time in our industry when knowledge was so important. Do you really know enough about CRI, Scotopic/Photopic Ratios, “Blue Lumens” and even the Lumen itself? If you haven’t modified your definitions in the last five years, the answer is “no”.
